AG A NELLI MAY START. TWICE. BRITISH COLUMBIA DOUBTFUL. (Special to "Northern Advocate.") AUCKLAND, This Day, Several visiting horses were galloped cn the course proper at Takapuna this morning, the poles being 30ft out from the rails. The work was all timed from the discs and not from the barrier, and in consequence the distance is a little under that mentioned. The going was hard and fast. The first to work were Boughal and King Mestor, who were exercised over five furlongs. They ran the first two in 24 3-ssec, and completed the gallop I

The first to work were Boughal and King Mestor, who were exercised over five furlongs. They ran the first two in 24 3-ssec, and completed the gallop in Imin. 1 4-ssee. Boughal finished over half a dozen lengths in front, and his effort was most impressive. He looks a better horse than at Te Bapa. Sinking Fund did useful work over a round, but was not going better; than half pace. This hack looks in solid condition.

Paganolli beat Lagoon by a number of lengths at the end of half a mile in 47 2-s Sec., Lagoon’s time being 48 4-5 see. Paganolli worked very freely and pulled up well. He is engaged in two events tomorrow, and it is possible that he will start in both.

Mungatoon (Tremain) ran home from the five furlong post in Imin. 3 2-ssec. He was going comfortably, and could have registered faster time. He looked particularly well and should prove the pick of the lightweights in the Alison Cup.

Pelagia was allotted useful work, finishing up by running half , a mile in 55 2-ssee, being under restraint throughout.

British Columbia, after beginning slowly, completed five furlongs in Imin. 4 I-osec., running his last half mile in 50 3-ssee. He pulled np all right, but, after returning to his stall, was decidedly lame behind, and evidently, ricked himself. His prospects of starting tomorrow do not look too good. Puriri Park finished up his work with a sprint down the straight. He hit'out very freely and looked in good healthy condition, though a 'shade on the light side.

Alloy, who had a lot of pace on when he jumped off at the half mile post, ran home in 47min. 4-ssec., finishing on strongly. So far no rider has been engaged for him, but C. Goulsbro will probably have the mount.

Master Norval trotted and cantered ever a couple of rounds. He looks in gveaj condition after racing in the Waikato. He is to be ridden by N. McKenzie in the Cup, and will' probably carry about 8.3.

Snow Prince finished up his work by covering the last half mile in 55 3.3 sec. He is to be ridden by .1. Mcßae in the Highweight, and should go a good race.

EFFORTS AT TE AWAMUTU.

SMART SPRINT BY BAMBURY.

(Special to "Northern Advocate.")

TE AWAMUTU, This Day. The course proper, which was in excellent condition, was available next to the rails for the final gallops of the Takapuna candidates at Te Awamutu yesterday morning, Othor fast work was done outside the flags, which were 27 feet out.

Eager Rose was going comfortably at the end of seven furlongs in 1.35*2-5. this maro will be in excellent order to contest her Takapuna engagements. Arawa Rose had an advantage over Sweet Rose at the conclusion' of two furlongs in 30 2-ssec. Arawa Rose worked nicely, and should show up at Takapuna. Nice work over five furlongs was done by Jonathan, who finished ahead of D’Artagnan in 1.4. D’Artagnan was making a lot of noise. Ilambury was under restraint while traversing five furlongs in 1.2. This was a good effort.

Luoiclus pleased by finishing well ahead of Ruri at the end of six furlongs in 1.15. Ruri, who was well bade, occupied 1.17.

Trishna had the advantage of Husquil at the conclusion of a mile in 1.45, the first half taking 52 2-5. Musquil is a doubtful starter at Takapuna. The two-year-old Top Flight traversed two furlongs in 24sec. Kuiapae, who caused a lot of trouble at the start, finished ahead of Marechal at the end of six furlongs in 1.15, On the Outside. Impasto was moving nicely, although not as-good as usual, at the end of two furlongs in 25 1-5, King’s Knave impressed by traversing seven furlongs in 1.39, the last halt in 52see. On the plough were Chief Lap, Waif and See, Knight of Australia, Wrecked Victor, and Campanero.
