ONERAHI
UNTIMELY DEATH.
LATE MJ.SS B. RULE
Death has been busy of late in Onorahi, not only among the aged, but. bringing untimely end to those just entering on life’s career. In this latter category -was Miss B. Rule, whose death, through not unexpected, lias none the less left a void in the hearts of those who knew her, A bright spirit of the younger generation, she was, before her illness, the life and soul of social activities among the young folk. Kindly, of bright disposition and full of the joy of life, her very presence made for a cheerier outlook, and her early demise cannot fail of being a loss to the community. Her remains wore interred in the Oncrahi Cemetery in the presence of a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends, and coffin and grave were heaped high with floral tributes. ’Wide sympathy goes out to her bereaved mother, sisters and brothers, CROPS SPOILED. RATS ATTACK KUMAR AS. Statistics tell ns that the yearly toll taken by the depredations of rats on the crops of humanity amounts to from one fooirth to one third of the total. That fact is realised when it is broughtl home personally. This year the rats have made, and are making, hay of the kmnara- crops. Commencing at the end of a row, the rdents burrow the length of Rj and systematically eat out the half-grown tubers and roots. No sign of disturbance appears above ground and the first intimation comes to the grower with the shrivelling and dying of the plants of the surface. Row after row is eaten out by the rats in this manner, and Oncrahi gardeners are faced with considerable loss.
