OVERSEAS TRADE
EXPORTS INCREASE. DECLINE OF IMPORTS. AUGUST STATISTICS. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Figures for the overseas trade of New Zealand for the month of August .1933, show that exports were valued at £2,030,039/ and imports at £1,705,915. For the corresponding period of last year the figures were £2,589,359 and £1,912,009 respectively. For the period of eight months ended August, 1933, exports were valued at £29,005,739 and imports at £13,662,-0-15 (the balance in terms of New Zealand currency, excluding specie, representing £12,903,000). For the corresponding eight months of 1932 the figures were £27,173,850, £14,910,169 and £9,895,000 respectively. Values recorded for exports are declared f.o.b. values in terms of New Zealand currency, while values recorded for imports- are current domestic values in the countries of export, plus 10 per cent. Returns for tlie month of August in the past live years are as follow: —
