DOLLAR DEBACLE

The dollar fell to a new-low level in comparison with gold currencies today. It was quoted at 04.65,-: in-relation to the franc, u Sterling closed 4.8088, or 3 1-8 cents up. For the third consecutive day the Stock Exchange failed to-rally strongly on the falling dollar. A few industrial shares rose slightly, otherwise closing prices were erratic.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE. MARKET LESS REGULAR. (British Official Wireless.) (Received .1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, September 19. The price of gold in London was unchanged today, remaining at 131.9. Following yesterday’s slump in the dollar, which, after touching 4.82 in New York, closed at 4.794, conditions on the foreign exchange market were less regular this morning. The dollar opened at 4.78 and was later quoted at quoted at 79 7-8. Pending clearer foreign exchange, other business in the stock markets was of modest dimensions today. British funds were solid, war loans being sold at £IOO 5/8.
