SUICIDE OF BANKRUPT. WHERE THE LAW FAILS. SYDNEY, August 17. Mr Claude Roach, trustee in bankruptcy, in a report to a. meeting of creditors in the estate of the late. Arthur Davies, solicitor, who committed suicide recently, disclosed a deficiency of about £50,000, Davies’ affairs were in a terrible state, said Mr Roach. No books had been kept, not even a trust cash book or ledger. Thh only records of deceased’s transactions were cheque butts. Mr Roach described this bankruptcy as one of the worst of its kind. He said it was a perfect example of what the law in New South Wales allows. It does not even require that a person who handles trust funds shall keep proper books.
