OBITUARY
MR JAMES H. MAXWELL. BORN AT WA IP IT, (Special to “Nortnern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. The death occurred at his residence at 44, Wood Streef, Ponsonby, yesterday, of Mr James Henry Maxwell, who for 31 years was building inspector to the Auckland City Council and took an active part in development work in the city. Mr Maxwell was born at Waipn 66 years ago. He was educated at the Ponsonby Sehool, and as a young man loaruod the trade of a carpenter. As an officer of the City Council, Mr Maxwell became well known for his active interest in improvement work in the city. The most important project in which ho was concerned was the Anza 1 Avenue scheme, or eastern outlet, at the time of the Great War, a work which involved the straightening of Beach Road, and eventually provided Auckland with a fine business thorough, fare, which helped to remove the problem of heavy traffic in Queen Street and Welleslev Street East.
