W, Milts, who said that on May 6 lastj"a warrant was issued for the arrest of accused. The following day - accused 's solicitor communicated with the chief detective. The warrant was read to accused who made no comment; On June 29, with Detective Ailsop- witness interviewed accused „in the presence of his solicitor. Witness- told accused that inquiries showed shortages amounting to about £2OOO instock, and asked him if he wished to \ . .. make any explanation. * He replied, ‘‘l deny stealing any moheyp the property of John Burns and Company.
