FINAL TOMORROW
RUGBY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. HIKURANGI V. CITY. OTHER KNOCK-OUT GAMES. The final of the senior Rugby League championship is at last at hand, and at Kamo tomorrow Hikurangi and City will battle to decide the holders of the eup for the season. As both thirteens are noted for their bright football and are equal in calibre, only fine weather is needed to ensure a large public assembly. In addition to the Morron Cup final, both the senior and junior knock-out competitions will be under way.
lAt Hikurangi, Whaka-Waro and Takahiwai meet, and a good game is anticipated. In the lower grade, Whaka-Waro and Onerahi meet at Kensington Park and Kamo and Portland at Portland. The respective teams will be selected from the following:— City.—Child, G. Baker, Hooker, H. Baker, Dent, Cross, Lenne, Stone, McMahon, J. Jones, F. Jones. H. Bowyer, C. and Y. Payne, Kernohan, Watts, McDonald and Reynolds. Hikurangi.—Hughes, E. Cunningham, R. Hamilton, Taylor, C. Hamilton, N. C. Dunn, R. Cunningham, E. O’Callaghan, Finlayson, Hayward, C. O’Callaghan, W. IST. Dunn, Rowe, Hazell and F. O’Callaghan. Whaka-Waro.— C, and B. Moyer, Aidred, Gardiner, J, and T. Berghan, C. and R. Jones, White, King, Buchanan, Steers, Finlayson, Adams, Davies, an 1 Potter. These players are requested to be on the ground at 2.30 p.m. VISIT FROM RICHMOND. OFFER. ACCEPTED. On Tuesday the secretary of the Northland League, Mr C. E. o’Callaghan, received a letter from the secretary of the Richmond Club, offering to bring their A and reserve grade teams to the North later in the season.
Mr O’Callaghan has replied accepting the offer, and it is most likely that the visitors will meet combined club teams. The Richmond A thirteen comprise? several notable players, including A. E. Cooke and other representatve men. Their visit will be keenly awaited.
