SIX MONTHS’ SUSPENSION
BOXER PENALISED. PART OF PURSE FORFEITED, (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 19. The British Boxing Board of Control has suspended Jack Doyle’s license for six months, and decided that Doyle and his mother each be paid £5 a week for six months from Doyle’s £3OOO share of the purse, the balance to be forfeited. Jack Doyle last week contested a boxing match with Jack Peterson for the British heavy-weight charapiom ship, losing on a foul in the second round after having been warned by the referee for reckless hitting. Doyle was to have been paid £3OOO, or a pro rata amount according to the takings, as his share of the purse, and Peterson a similar amount, but after the bout, the British Boxing Association took action to deal with Doyle’s license and agreed share of the purse, on the grounds of alleged infringements by him during the bout of the rules of'boxing. By the board’s decision Doyle’s share of the purse has been reduced to £260.
