PLAYERS UNAVAILABLE. RUGBY IN THE SCHOOLS. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Owing to a number of selected play* ei's being unavailable tomorrow, the Management Committee of the Whangarei Rugby Union . last night cancelled the proposed A and B trial match. Notification was received that the Harding Shield match with Hokianga on July 29 would probably‘be played at Kohukohu. The team will travel by private ear, Mr C...F. Collins having transport arrangements in hand. They will leave from the Commercial Hotel early on the morning of the match. Mr Cyril -Powell has kindly offered to accommodate, players on the Friday ni£ht. The Mangakahia Club will be asked to forward a list of, players in the western junior section, and invited to send a team to play a Hora Hora —• Whakapara combined team at Whangarei on July 22. The North Auckland Rugby Union asked that a representative Maori team be sent to Dargaville to play a curtain-raiser to the Auckland —North Auckland match on July 26. , It was decided to notify the North Auckland Union that unless it was prepared to pay the travelling expenses, a team could not be sent. In the event of the match taking place, Messrs L. Davis and W. Rika will select the Whangarei side. A letter was received from the Whangarei Primary Schools Rugby Union pointing out that some of their rules were broken ■ in the recent tournament, and asking that 'the schools competition be replayed. As no complaint was made;to the Emergency Committee within the prescribed time, it was decided to decline the request. The secretary of the Schools Union asked that for several Saturdays a charge be placed on schoolboys attending Rugby. Park, in order to provide necessary funds for the union. Under the Whangarei Rugby Union’s terms of license, it is unable to make a charge for schoolboys. The union, however, decided to- make a* donation of £2 2/.

Three new sets of jerseys for the representative teams will be purchased. This week’s draw and referees for Saturday next will be published in the “Northern Advocate” on Thursday.
