GOVERNMENT BONDS SOUGHT,
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”)
AUCKLAND, This Day
An unsatisfied demand for Government stock on the local Stock Exchange has resulted in prices of the 4 per cents going above par. At the late call yesterday, there was a sale at £IOO 12/(5, but this valuation failed to hold, and this morning- sales were made at £IOO 5/. Subsequently there were still buyers at that figure. A parcel of 1040 ’s was available at £lOl.
■Colonial Sugars were quoted, ox dividend, with buyers at £54 10/, and sellers asking £1 more, Pukemiro ‘Collieries were again in request at 10/0, and Wellington Woollens were available, at £6 2/0. The banking and insurance sections showed few alterations.
Waihis were steady, with buyers at £1 2/0 and holders asking £1 0/0.

The following sales were recorded at the noon call: Bank of New Zealand, £2 5/2; Auckland Gas, £1 2/7; Farmers’ Trading, 1/0; Bank of Now South Wales, £2O 10/; Woolworth’s pref., £l. 12/0; Golconda, lid; Waihi Grand Junction, 3/10; Inscribed etock, 10-40, 4 per cent, £IOO 5/: Commercial Bank, 14/5.
