POUND STERLING RATE. ShUMI’ ON PA HIS BOU RS E. PARIS, .May 1. The pound sterling was quoted on. the Paris Bourse today at S4.(JO francs, and later touched S 4, the lowest rate since December. This Is attributed to heavy selling of sterling by the Exchange Equalisation Fund. Some financial observers say it was done to convince the United States that Britain is determined to counteract the depreciation of the dollar. BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES. QUARTERLY DIVIDEND. A quarterly dividend of o/ a share, Australian currency, has been declared by the directors of the Bank of Now •South Wales. It is payable at head office, Sydney, on May ,‘K'i, and at branches upon receipt of advice.
The distribution is l‘or the second quarter, ended March Ml, of the hank’s current lin:mci;il year, and is nt the same rate as (hat paid for the previous four quarters.
