WHIRLWIND VISITATION.
COWSHED HAZED.

Approaching' from the sea, accompanied by heavy rain, a whirlwind, awept several farms along the coast.South’ of New Plymouth yesterday.... - -- - The farm of Mr E. J.' Saugherj"on the main south road, was seriously affected. Most of the cowshed was swept away, pieces of corrugated iron being whisked into the air and carried for nearly a quarter of a mile. Mr Sanglier's son, Avho was in the shed at the time, was forced to lie on the ground to avoid whirling debris.
A tree in the path of the wind, was stripped bare of its foliage and smaller branches were broken off. . A wireless mast near the bouse w r as snapped off and the upper part was forced'through a window 7 , the end projecting some distance into a room! •’ ‘ '
