AIR WARFARE MENACE

Addressing the special Air Committee of the Disarmament Conference at. Geneva, Lord Londonderry, Secretary of State for. Air, announced Great Britain’s readiness to subscribe to a universal agreement for the abolition of naval and military aircraft, provided that an effective international control of civil air transports could be devised. Members of Parliament, representing all parties, who are closely watching the proceedings of the Disarmament Conference have joined in congratulating tjre Government on their main proposal and are urging them to press it with, persistence. “We believe that the international control of civil air transport is required not only as a safeguard against its misuse for military purposes, but in order to assist its fullest development for the constructive purposes of peace. We are not insensitive to* the difficulties of establishing such an international regime, but we are convinced that the task is well within the limits of attainment,—and- - thatnothing less will satisfy the determination of majorities, in all countries, who are demanding- protection from the menace of air warfare.” IS il t§l !i WORDS OF WISDOM.
