Mr Oliver Nicholson., of Auckland, has boon appointed 4ice-presidont of the Now Zealand Racing 'Conference, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr H. 0. Nolan.
A cable message from Paris says that Professor Albert Einstein, who at present is in Belgium, has accepted a specially-created chair of mathematical physics in the College of France.
The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, is spending the holiday at his homo at Matakoho, and will take advantage of the opportunity to meet his constituents. Arrangements have been made for him to address meetings at Paparoa to-morrow afternoon and at Ruawai to-.morrow evening. Mr. Coates expects to be in Auckland on Friday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Coates.
