ATTEMPT TO SAVE BEATER
(Received 9 a.m.) CALCUTTA, December 19. Mr John Gilbert Bourne, deputycommissioner, in the Bctul district, Central Provinces, died as a result of injuries received in an attack by a tiger. Ho, was gallantly attempting to rescue an Indian beater who was being mauled. , Mr Bourne shot and fatally wound-, ed. one tiger, whose mate attacked the beater, then turned on Mr Bourne.
