HIKURAXGL AIIXE. AtEX RESUME'YESTERDAY.' FIRE AREA SEALED. Work lias been recommenced in the Hikurangi Coal Company’s mine, a portion of which ds still on fire. The decision was made yesterday, and the men, are now work-in" in their ordinary shifts in another part of the mine. ■ The burning area has been completely isolated from the rest of the mine, having been temporarily scaled. All efforts to try to get through into the affected section have been given up for the time being. It is intended not to open the area until after the Xew Year, by which time it is hoped that the seals will have smothered the tire and that the section will be cool enough for a thorough inspection to be made. Air J. Alakinson, the mine manager, -who was injured in the mine last week, is still confined to his bed, but is reported to bo making good progress.
