CAUSE OF HUMANITY
PLEA FOR UNFORTUNATES,
LET CHRISTMAS PERSUADE YOU
Another week, and Christmas will he here-. Protracted hard times, however, bring in their train a greater measure ot' privation on this occasion than has been experienced for several years past, and the increasing need of succour for a large number of humankind who have not the wherewithal to cheer their dreary way during the season that bespeaks joy and festivity co others.
This is the one time of all the year, while the spirit of beneficence is abroad, to consider in practical manner Hie alleviation of. distress with the supply of topical gifts. The media for offering help are available by way of the Whangarei Relief Committee’s appeal for cash—no matter how small the denomination—and appropriate goods, of which there is a wide range of selection. Even the “widow's mite” will be acceptable, and any amounts in money sent tc the “Advocate” will be gratefully received and duly acknowledged.
Rome responses in kind have been deposited at the Relief Depot in Rust Lane, which opened today, but there is still plenty of scope in this direction also, and it is hoped those who are in a position to give anything will feel generously inspired by the period of good will and the extreme need of the occasion:—• ■ £ s. d.
