HAIR FASHIONS.

SHORT NEAT HEADS

Hair fashions are changing again (states the “Daily Mail.”). Short hair which is neat Avithout being" severe is the newest A’oguo. This Avill look good Avith the ‘ ‘ fore-and-a ft ” tilt of the autumn hats. The Avhitehairod Avoman has the platinum blonde. The change-over to shorter hair, at least, need not cause any worry. Women are going to find it easier to keep their hair in order Avhen it Is done in the now Avay than they diil Avhen long ends had to be disposed of. But all those curls —so often untidy —which floated round the neck must go. The hair is softly and smoothly Avaved toward the nape, but Avithout that “shorn lamb” effect which came from close clipping. The idea is to get a natural effect with an intriguing touch of artificiality. This is achieved by placing an irregular row of little flat Greek curls on the hair itself on each side of the parting above the forehead, Avitli two or three curls resting on the broAA r . The effect is to giA'e a frame to the face, although actually the hair is dressed close to the head.

Another good point about this stylo of hairdressing is that it can be done in sevoial different Avays. The AvindhloAvn coiffure made every Avoman look alike; Avhercas the neAv and more natural hairdressing is designed to stress the indiA'iduality.

ShoAving the Ears,

It is quite as smart, for example, to brush your hair back to show your ears, if you have pretty ones, as to wear your hair over them. Another idea is to wear a parting which starts in the centre in front and crosses the head diagonally to the right. Nearly always the hair is straight on the top of the head, witli large natural waves starting well above the ears. The waves and curls are quite easy to keep in order—a 'well-fitting not cap helps them at night, while the little flat curls may be pinned in position. But even when the curls begin to get loose they keep their attractiveness, for they do not become straggly if carefully trained, merely falling into large locks. Women who had their hair cut for the “windblown” coiffure are going to find these curls very helpful until the uneven hair has grown.

White Hair Craze 1 ,

The new craze for white hair promises to be even more popular ,-than the platinum vogue. Nothing looks more attractive, of course, than a, white head crowning a youthful face. The bleaches used are guaranteed not to make the hair harsh or brittle, and the only drawback seems to be that women have to have the new hair frequently bleached as it grows.

There is another new hair colour Avith Avliich a feAV brave Avomcn are experimenting, but one Avhich the writer docs not advise anyone to try. This <is a dark peacock blue-green. One Avoman at an evening function had hair of this shade. It. toned queerly Avith her greenish eyes, and was eA’idontly effected by a poivder brushed oA’er the head after it had been carefully greased with pomade.
