The Whangarci Amateur Athletic Club held a most successful inaugural meeting at the High School grounds last night. Between 40 and 50 entries were, received tor the various e\ents, and the spectators were rewarded by seeing lirst-class racing. The outstanding competitor was Morgan, who won the 100 yards easily frpm the four vards’ mark. Morgan, hails from Hamilton, and has some really fine performances to his credit. Results were as follows: —

100 yards handicap. —First heat: R. Donaldson (oyds) .1, P. .Tones (2yds) 2, E. Wilson (7yds) 3. Second heat: Morgan (syds) 1, Syme (7yds) 2, Hill (syds) and Gladding (4yds), equal, 3. Final: Morgan 1, Hill 2, Donaldson and Syme, equal, 3. Time: 10 3-ssec. Won very easily.

SBO yards.—K. Given (20yds) 1, D. : Ryder (40yds) 2, A. Syme (60yds) 3. Time, 2min 10 3-ssec. The time was very good considering the track, and .Given is evidently going to develop into a good middle-distance man. Ryder ran a great race until his condition gave out. In the 440 yards relay the teams were;—City (Waterman, Gladding, Winstanley and Jones), Old Boys (Collins, Hohnwood, Hill and Donaldson), and Combined (Hosking, Ross, Forbes ami Morgan).

Waterman, who ran first for City, fell in attempting to take the rails on the bend, but continued. In the final lap Donaldson got away six yards ahead of Morgan, who gradually bridged the gap, finally winning by two feel. City, who had mislaid Ihe baton on route, were third.
