KAMO TOWN BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Kamo Town Board was held in the board’s oflice on Friday, December 9, at 7.30 p.m., Crs. Mclnnes (chairman), Woods, Younger, Wakelin and Morron being present. The following is a resume of the meeting;— It was decided that, in the event of the board being called upon to cobect the proposed rate to be levied over the Whangarei Harbour Board district, they do so on the following terms. — That the Town Board charge a nominal fee for collection, and hand over to the Harbour Board all such rates collected, but accept no responsibility for any rates unpaid; any legal proceedings to recover rales to bo undertaken by the Harbour Board.” An application was made to the board by a relief worker for a few days’ work, in payment of rates. This application was not accepted, the board being unable to make any concessions for payment of rates as suggested, as they require the cash to meet their liabilities. It was decided to instruct the inspector to challenge hawkers, and pedlars, and, if unable to produce a license, to collect a stated fee from them. The foe for registration of dogs for the ensuing year was fixed at the same as previous years. Accounts totalling £2lO 12/1 were passed for payment. Included in these are—Whangarei Hospital Board levy, £23 l/o; Public Trustee, interest and principal, No. I electricity loan, £9B 16/10.
