Thirteen sailors were drowned when the tempest capsized the trawler Golden Deepes, which was sheltering in Preiviksbotn. The vessel dropped both anchors and during a lull the captain and two passengers landed. The renewal of the tempest dragged at the anchors and overturned the ship, in sight of spectators on the, shore, while the crew were frantically si niggling to cast new anchors. Some clung to the rigging until they were overwhelmed, and others tried vainly to swim ashore. The storm precluded any attempt at rescue.
