The King has approved the conferment of a medal in silver with a clasp inscriped “Arctic, IPhO-ol” lo M members of the British Arctic air route expedition. A posthumous award to Mr It. G. Watkins, who was drowned through the overturning, of an 'Eskimo canoe is included. The purpose of the expedition was to explore the Arctic ice cap of Greenland with a view to establishing an all-British air route across the Arctic to Canada.
