OBITUARY

ME BENJAMIN T. HAWKINS. (Special to ‘‘Northern A<lvrvoat«.”i AUCKLAND, This Day. The death has occurred at Birkenhead of Mr Benjamin Tapscot Hawkins, at the age of 70 years. Ho was an old resident of tho distriet and the last surviving member of the first Borough Council constituted in 1888. For many years he was one of the largest strawberry growers on the North Shore, the orchard being eventually subdivided for building sections. Later he was agent, at Birkenhead for a fire insurance company, 'hough several years ago ho retired from active business. Ho is survived hy Airs Hawkins, a son, Mr William dames Hawkins, of Birkenhead, and three daughters, Mcsdames F. Townsend, W, Johns, and N. Seeary.
