' (Per,- Press Association.—Copyright.) i WELLINGTON, This Day. | The first two rounds of the open golf championship of Now Zealand were played at the Heretaunga links yesterday. Conditions were similar to those of the previous day, bright and sunny, with a north-west breeze, which' has now made the greens distinctly fast. The’ best score in the first round was 71, which was returned by B. M, Bilk and 11. A. Black. Many spectators followed the professional, Shaw, who has held the title for the past two years and was paired yesterday with Dr. Ross. Shaw finished the morning with 74 and Ross with 78. A. D. iS. Duncan still stands as the player -who besides Shaw, is worth following for golf's own sake. Yesterday morning he was as good as ever and finished with 72. With 72 in the ' afternoon, Shaw headed the list for the day with 146, A. D, S. Duncan being one stroke behind. The. latter’s afternoon round took 75. Moss and H. A. Black were next with 148 for the two rounds.
