TWO MEN SENTENCED. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. In the Supreme Court yesterday, Edwin George Valentino Roberts, aged L’3, labourer, and Raymond Patrick Lctton, aged 2d, labourer, were found guilty of breaking and entering the premises of Lauchlan and Company, Limited, .jewellers, Courtenay Place, about midniglti on Sunday, June 2(i, and stealing jewellery to the value of £317 39/6. Letton, who had previous convictions, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal. Roberts was sentenced . to 38 months’ reformative detention.
Two boxes of jewellery were found in a yard near a. lorry which had been abandoned when a night watchman disturbed the burglars. Accused were taken into custody at New Plymouth. The principal evidence at the trial was a conversation between the prisoners in the cell overheard by a constable.
