INFRA RED RAY PROCESS,

(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, October 30.'

The War Office ahd the Admiralty are interested in infra red ray photography, in consequence of which special experiments were initiated at the physical laboratory at Teddington. The new photographic plates overcome haze and fog and give definition as sharp at 20 miles as at 100 yards. If tins photography were applied to warfare it is suggested that a smoke screen for a battle fleet would . be rendered Aircraft will be able to photograph battlefield fortifications while hidden in the clouds, and liners will be able to speed through a fog because they would know the position of the ; ships ahead.

Scientists too,' it is stated, could reach a vaster area of the universe. The discovery may ultimately be the means of deciding the existence of life on planets.
