BOXING

MCE wan takes the count,

(Per Press Association. —Copyright.) TI MARTI, This Day.

In a professional boxing contest last night, Vince Parker (Timaru) knocked out George McEwan (Invercargill) in the twelfth round. McEwan is the holder of the middleweight title of the Dominion, but this was not at stake. From the second round onwards Parker was clearly superior. In the middle stages of the bout he administered severe punishment, only the condition and gameness of McEwan enabling him to carry on so long.
