COMPLETION IN SIGHT. GRANT OF CsOO. AUTHORISED FOR METALLING. The chairman of the Whangarei County Council, Mr L. Webb, is in receipt today of the following acceptable communication from the actingMinistcr of Public AVorka, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan; —

"My colleague, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, has received your telegram of the 7th instant concerning the above mentioned road, and as I am administering bis portfolio in the meantime he has requested that I inquire into your representations and advise yon of the position.

"I find that new money to the extent of £BOO, £3 for £l, is proposed for the metalling of this road this year and ns the result of your request it lias been decided to approve authorisation of this sum immediately, so that a commencement may tie made with the work. "An authority in the amount, referred to will reaeh yon within the next day or so. ’ ’ This authorisation will enable the local body to complete the base course of metal. It will afford relief to many settlers, and bring towards finality a vexatious controversy which has been constantly before the County Council for many years past.
