The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports on the Westfield fat stock sale, held yesterday, .as follows: — Beef. —Beef was penned in larger numbers than last week, and although there was a steady demand values were easier by one shilling per lOOibs. Extra choice ox sold to 20/ per lOOibs; choice and prime, Id/ to ID/; ordinary and plain, El/ to Et/; prime young cow and heifer beef, Mi/ to 10/; ordinary cow beef, 12/ to Id/; heavy .prime steers, £7 to £S .2/(5; lighter prime, £d to £d 17/0; light, prime, £d to £d 17/0; unfinished and small, £3 to £4 E)/: heavy prime young cows and heifers, £j ],")/ to £d 7/d; lighter, £4 to £4 12/d; light cows. £2 Id/ to £ll Ed/; other cows, £1 10/ to £2 10/. .Sheep. —Sheep were yarded in large numbers, mostly shorn. There was a ready demand, with values very firm at late quotations. Values Avcre easier on last Aveek’s quotations. Golden Dawn (Owharoa). —During the two weeks ended Octobe'r 22 stoping Iras been carried on on No. 3 level with machines working three shifts in the slopes on No. 1 reef in four blocks. The reef here averages three feet wide, and the ore broken is of fair value. The filling of the nig block on this ;eef at No. 2 level, near where the hanging wall branch came in, is completed, and stoping has been started on again. Stoping has also been carried' on in two blocks cn No. 3 reef, with machines working three shifts. The '•eef here averages two feet six inches wide, and the ore is of very fair value. On the intermediate level, driving south from the south end, the ground in the slopes on No. 2 reef has been driven 12 feet. The reef here averages three feet wide, but is in two branches, there being a small horse of mullock between the two branches. The ore- so far is :if good value. NATIONAL INSURANCE. The annual report of the National j Insurance Company shows that the net I income for the year, ended September 30, amounts to £24 9,401.
