Eden Gaol, that he stole a battery from a motor car in Upland Road, Remuera, and the next day sold it to Mrs Chambers for 15/. was not asked where ho got it. ■■ / , ; • -In evidence, Mrs Chambers said-she did not know the battery Was stolen. ■ .: Mold had been with, her - on several .., occasions when she bought tyres from; • motor garages., . On the charge- Of receiving-the bat- : , tery, the magistrate fined each accus- ' od £lO or one month’s imprisonment. ' _On the charge referring to the two motor tyres, Mrs Chambers was cqhvieted and discharged, but Arthur Chambers was fined £lO. Both accused were convicted and discharged on a further charge of receiving a tyre.
