John Bright Austin, aged 50, of Taumaranui, pleaded guilty today to charges of obtaining £IBO from various persons by falsely representing that ho was one .1, Oskins, in a position to engage bakers and pastrycooks on behalf of an English linn. He was committed for sentence. Accused inserted advertisements in various papers relative to a two-year contract at 2/ per hour. He received 188 replies to the advertisement, and then drafted a circular letter, requesting that each applicant should enclose a £1 note, and not a postal note, for cable and passport purposes. Accused is a baker, and a- native of England. He arrived here last year.
