BEGINNERS’ NIGHT

YOUNGSTERS WELL PLACED. RIFLE CLUB SHOOT. I. CONWAY WINS TROPHY. A feature of the shoot in the Lovatt Cup series at the Whangarei miniature .rifle range last night, was the success of the younger competitors. Two junior members, in A. Duel and I. Conway, shot the possible (with handicaps) and succeeded in tying with A. Angelo, D. Patterson, E. Foot, F. Tebbutt and R. McDonald. In the final shoot-off. I. Conway recorded another possible, and was declared the winner.

Thirty-four members participated in the shoot.

A practice match also took place for the purpose of selecting a team to shoot for teams and individual matches arranged for New Zealand miniature rifle clubs, by the Ashburton Club. A challenge shield,, valued at £SO, and cash prizes to the value of £27 10s have been donated. If, J. Ashton was in good form, and was easily first in the practice. The holders of the President’s Badges, W. B; Stock and G. Green, were successful in defending their title, the scores being:—Holders: W. B. Stock (iS, O—OS,0 —OS, G. Green 54, 2—50, total 1-4.
