THE MONTHLY MCETINO. TIME OFF IN SICKNESS. Tin 1 monthly meeting’ of the AVlmngarei Unemployment Committee was lii*l(1 on .Monday, tiie cliainnan, .Mr W. Jones, presiding. Twice the committee lias made representations that workmen should be allowed to make up time lost through sickness in the stand-down week or in the next followin'' week. The commissioner again replied that the concession could not be agreed to. —Rccei ved. Community Gardening. The Unemployed' Workers’ Association is being advised of various sections available for community plots, with the request that these should be taken up at once. The Citizens’ Relief Committee is making available half a ton of seed potatoes, and a certain amount of other seeds. Whangarei Watersiders. Because of the small amount of work available on the Whangarei wharves, the committee asked that this district be exempted from the regulations governing relief work for watersiders. The committee represented that the regulations simply debarred men from earning a few shillings during their time off. The board replied that the rules relating to the amount of relief which may be granted to intermittent workers must be adhered to.
