COAL MINING TROUBLE
WEST COAST DISPUTE, NO SETTLEMENT YET. ■ • (Per Press 'Association.—nop'yrlpcht.r ■WELLINGTON, This- Day. No settlement, has been reached' :iu the West Coast coal mines dispute, and it is learned, on reliable authority, that the coal miners intend .putting their proposals into effect in the West I Coast mines on Friday. -These are the final proposals which: were rejected by the workers. No word has been received whether the workers intend to take any further action. The main objection of the miners to the proposals, it is stated, is not so much in relation to the rates .of. pay as to the conditions of employment, particularly the .conditions, relating to the position of the mine manager.
