The newspapers arc delighted at the success of the war loan conversion. They express the opinion that, it will immeasurably enhance Britain’s: power and leadership in the present troublous condition of world affairs. Viscount Snowden says the figures represent a magnificent success. The City Editor of the “Daily Telegraph’’ says the prospects of the complete conversion of the whole £2,084,994, of the stock are extremely promising. - The. “Morning Post’’ says the conversion represents nearly 90 per.cent of the total. The nation must.be warmly congratulated. *The jeremiads are now confounded by the glory of the event. The success of conversion is exceeding all expectations and has had a stimulating effect on the Stock Exchange. British funds generally opened 10/ up, the converted -war loan reaching £IOO 5/. Confidence also spread to other sections. -
