STOCK EXCHANGE
MARTvET QUIETENS DOWN
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day.
Activity on the local Stock Exchange has : been well maintained. There was. a large list of sales yesterday afternoon, after which the market quietened down and only two fresh ones were added at the first call today. Speaking generally, late quotations have held firmly, but an exception is found in Bank of New Zealands, which slipped further with a sale at £2 6/, The best bid for scrip at this morning's call was £2 5/6, holders asking 5d more. The insurance section is strong and South British sold at £2 16/, after which holders asked £2 17/6. < Gear Meats were offered 6d lower at £1 13/6. Government .stocks wore virtually unchanged, a remark which also applies to local body debentures.
