REGENT THEATRE

There was a good smattering of golfers at the Regent Theatre last evening, when the first of the Johnny Farrell series of instructional pictures was shown. It created a good impression among the golfers present, and it is certain that the following "shorts” will be well patronised. That, however, was not the main attraction of the programme, for ‘ ‘ Indiscreet, ” starring Gloria Swanson, and Ben Lyons was one of those really enjoyable pictures. It, was a good mixture of comedy and drama, and laughs following in quick succession, when Ben Lyons, as a young novelist, counselled Gloria Swanson, who played the part of a young milliner, to follow her impulses. Then the fun was fast and furious, the actress playing her part perfectly. Gomedy is rather a departure for her, but she also had ample scope for her dramatic powers, and gave them full rein. Ben Lyons was excellent, combined the flair for comedy, and the talent for draa a brilliantly, while a clever east lent the principals the support which made the film the entertainment it was. A couple of comedies were included on the supporting programme, ‘‘The News Hound” being especially bright. Also were shown two interesting nows reels. It was just another of those excellent programmes which the Regent have been showing of late.
