FURTHER SALARY PRUNING. GRADUATED SCALE. (Special to “Northern Advocate.") .AUCKLAND, This Day. Graded officers in the Auckland Transport Board receiving salaries of £370 per annum and over are to receive a second cut as from May 1. This decision was reached by the board in committee this morning.
Salaries from £370 to £495 will be subject to a reduction of 5 per cent.; £49G to £IOOO, 74 per cent.; £IOOO and over, 124 per cent. It was also decided that increases in, salaries, less 10 per cent.* be made in Seale B and Seale A, up to and including Grade 2, such increases to operate as from April 1. In respect to the increases in Seale B and A, Mr .1. A, C. Allum, chairman of the hoard, explained after-the meeting that only junior members cf the si all’ were affected, and the increments, which were automatic, involved £IBO per annum. "No member of the staff receiving less than £370 per annum," ho said, “is being subjected to a cut in salary."
The reduction is on the lines of the outs imposed by the City Council at its last meeting. Members of the operating staff of the trams and buses arc not affected, as their wages are fixed by industrial agreement.
