SALARY ADJUSTMENTS
CIVIL SERVICE CUT. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) WELLINGTbISr, This Day. Information concerning the actual position in regard to the ‘payment of April salaries in the Civil Service was sought in the House of Representati\-e? today by Mr .1. Kitchener (Government —Waitaki). The Rt. Hon. .1. G, Coates, Minister In Charge of Unemployment, replying on behalf of the [Prime Minister, said the salary adjustments under the National Expenditure Adjustment Bill Avould operate from April 1, 10.02. Tho principle Avas the same as that, adopted la.st year.
Pending a' fmal decision as to tho graduated scales of redAictions, all departments had been Instructed last •month that, in respect to tho first half of this month, salary abstracts were to be prepared nt the then current rates of pay, and that adjustments arising out of the reductions as decided upon would be made in abstract for the second half of April.
■Arrangements Avore in hand for this procedure to apply so as to avoid, as far as possible, any delays in payment or any hardships occasioned by delayed adjustment.
