EXTREME CONCERN

“LACK OP PROTECTION.” PROGRESS LEAGUE RESOLUTIONS (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, Friday. The following resolutions were passed, by the City Central Progress League at a special meeting called this morning to consider last night’s riots: “That the City Central Progress League expresses extreme concern at the wanton destruction and looting at last night’s riot.” “It also expresses its strong indignation at the lack of adequate protection by the authorities. ’ ’ “That the league believes that the strongest possible measures should be taken to prevent a recurrence, and offers the Mayor and authorities the fullest support of the members of the league and of their respective staffs in the maintenance of law and order.”

“That the City Central Progress League demands that the loss and wanton damage sustained by the business community should be a direct charge on the Government, and proposes to take such steps as are necessary to support its claims.”

It was decided to forward the resolutions to the “Prime Minister, with a request that they receive the immediate attention of the Government.
