(Special to “Northern Advocate.’’) -AU-CKLAN-D ; -This- Day, A li^lit motor lorry collided Avitli the back of a heavy motor truck parked outside the Freeman’s Bay policestation, near the foot of College Hill, at 7.D0 last- evening. As a result of j the collision ' one' man was killed and another seriously injured. The vie- ; thus were:— Killed. Mr James Naught on, aged 37, married, of -10 College Hill. Injured. Air Alfred Best, aged 33, single, ot JO Cook Street, head injuries. Condition serious. The light lorry was travelling up College Hill when it struck the back of the other vehicle with terrific force. The -front of-the lorry, was smashed beyond recognition, both MiBest, who was driving, and Air Naughton, who was seated beside him, being rendered unconscious. They were taken in the St. John’s Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where Air Naughton died about half an hour later. The motor truck "with which the lorry collided was being used for the conveyance of special constables, and was waiting outside the Freeman’s Bay police station. Special constables who were in the station assisted to remove the injured men from the wreckage. The impact >vas so severe that glass from the windscreen of the lorry was scattered over a distance of about 12J yards. ’ The truck was not damaged.
