LADY HOUSTON’S OFFER. (Received 0 n.m.) LONDON, April 14. Lady Houston lias written to the Chancellor! ~of the. Exchequer, Mr Neville Chamberlain, offering him a cheque for'£2oo,ooo instead of one for the £40,000 due by her for income tax. She proposes that the extra amount should go towards the cost of an adequate Navy, Army and Air Force, which she says she considers requires an addition of £5,000,000 to the coming Budget. , “If nineteen others do the same,” says Lady Houston, “the pqltry sum required to ensure the national safety will be found.” -
