CHARGE OF ARSON

JURY FAILS TO AGREE. NEW TRIAL ORDERED. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) NAPIER, This Day. The jury failed to agree in the Supreme Court yesterday in a case in which George Alexander Wilson, • a bootmaker, was charged with arson. The charge arose from the outbreak of a fire at Wilson's house, the Crown alleging that, following the suppression of the flames, there was a smell of benzine in several parts of the house and that there was evidence that the upholstering of the armchairs had been ripped open and strewn over the floor. His Honour ordered a new trial to take place at the next sessions in February.
