The majority of the bright parts on the modern car are now chromium plated, but where nickel plating is used it may not be generally realised that such plating may be damaged by leaving traces of metal polish on it after cleaning. Care should be taken to remove all traces of the polish.

Resistance to the /low of battery current can ho reduced by keeping the top of the storage battery clean. The fumes which the batery gives off in charging causes the formation of a greenish, corrosive deposit around the battery posts and between the terminals. This offers a high resistance to the current and the battery loses cflicioncy. This resistance often is great enough to increase the generator voltage to such an extent that the headlamp bulbs will burn out. Careful scraping of the terminals, washing |Hi in a soda solution and then them with vaseline will restore electrical efliciency.
