EARTHQUAKE RISKS
RATE OF PREMIUM. (Per Press Association.— Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. When the vote for the State Fire Insurance Account was under consideration in the House of Representatives yesterday, Sir Apirana Ngata, replying to Mr J. T. Hogan (Independent— Rangitikei) said the increase in premiums <to cover earthquake risk had been hustled along by circumstances. It was admittedly large, and (the whole position would be investigated during the recess. The State Fire Office was in a position to set a lead, and lie thought, now that the dust and smoke of the earthquake had cleared, away, it would be possible to get down to a better perspective.
