OBITUARY

MR H. A. STUART. * FORMERLY OF WHANG ARE I. The death occurred at Pukekohe yesterday of Mr Hugh Alexander Stuart, aged 70 years, a life-long resident of the Auckland district. Mr Stuart was a son of the late Captain Donald Stuart, of Whangarei Heads, who came to New Zealand with the party from Nova Scotia which founded the Waipu settlement. Captain Stuart was later lost at sea. As a young man, Mr Stuart engaged in bush work and work on the land, in the ‘ Whangarei, Mertiufy'Rdy ;r hnd Titirangi districts. About 30' years ago, he took up land at Ngunguru, and was later at Maunu engaged in dairying. He went to Pukekohe 22 years ago, acquiring ia farm on the Puni Road, where he had resided since. He was a member of the Pukekohe Bowling Club and' other local organisation. Mr Stuart ia survived by a son and five daughters. There are four grandchildren.
