Hr. L. W. Nelson returned on Saturday from Hastings, where ho judged the light horse section at the Hawke’s Bay Show. Dr. L. D. Coffman, President of the University of Minnesota, and Mrs Coffman arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday. Lady Bledisloe is still confined to bed at Dunedin, but Her Excellency’s medical adviser hopes that she will be able to proceed north on Thursday and rejoin Lord Bledisloe at Christchurelf. Visitors to Whangarei last week were Mr and Mrs Arthur Kenderdine, of Taumarunui. Mr Kenderdine had not been in Whangarei for many years, and noticed considerable advancement.

Mr F. E. Fawcett, chief cashier of the Chili and Bolivia Railway Co,, Ltd., arrived at Auckland by the Ruahine yesterday on a holiday visit to the Dominion. He was accompanied by Mrs Fawcett. The Rev. W. H. Cater and Mrs Cater, of Suffolk, arrived at Auckland by the Ruahine yesterday from Southampton. They will proceed to Rarotonga to take up mission duties for the London Missionary Society. The Ven. Archdeacon R. CreedMeredith, Vicar of Christ Church, Wanganui, will not return to New Zealand owing to ill-health. Information has been received that he has been, appointed vicar at Cheshunt, near London.

Mr F. J. Singleton, of the Dairy Division of the Canadian Department of Agriculture, arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday on a visit to his brother, Mr W. M. Singleton, of Wellington, Director of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture. This is Mr Singleton's first visit to this country.

Mr C, W. Stewart, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Stewart, of Hall Avenue, Whangarei, who is now a student at Victoria University College, Wellington, met with conspicuous success at the recent annual terms examinations. Mr Stewart, who is an ex-pupil of the Whangarei High School, passed in Pure Mathematics (stage 1), Chemistry (stage 1), and in Physics (Pr. III.) (stage 1).
