MOUNTING COSTS

ONTAEIO EETEENCHMENT, (Beceived 9. a.m.) ' TOEONTO, October 15. In order to meet the mounting expenditure on unemployment and the reduced revenue, the Provincial; Government intends to legislate for a wholesale cut in the salaries and wages of officials, from 'Cabinet Ministers to minor Government employees, commencing on November 1. It is estimated that an annual saving of £200,000 will be effected by the cut.

An additional tax on motor cars, of probably £1 each, is also announced.
