The first two rounds of the open golf championship of New Zealand, decided on four medal rounds, were played at the Shirley links yesterday. The course was in excellent order, although rathe? dry and hard. The weather Was of midsummer warmth and almost windless,, making the conditions well nigh perfect for low scoring. He held his form to the 13th green, when for the first time in the day he failed to make a scratch figure.
